‘Free From’ Snacks and Treats with a Twist & #FreeFromFridays

Hello everyone!

I hope your ‘free from’ journey is a smooth and uneventful one at the moment. Just like two weeks ago, nothing has been happening around here. ‘Nothing’ is positive in a way (we have no had a single reaction in months), but it feels a bit like we’re in limbo with our yearly dose of allergy testing. In fact, we have not heard a peep since the December blood tests, but hey ho, Jumpy is well and that is all that matters.

In the past couple of weeks, I have noticed more and more colourful recipes being shared in #FreeFromFridays and although it is cold and grey around here, it feels like spring is only around the corner, or so I keep telling myself…

I chose a few ‘Free From’ Snacks and Treats with a Twist to share with you today.

We are all mad about houmous at home so this Roasted Red Pepper & Chilli Hummus by ‘Charlotte’s lively Kitchen’ is right up our street, with its vibrant colour and the kick of chillies.

Vegan Chocolate Muffins, anyone? Look at these babies, by ‘The Peachicks’ Bakery.’ Don’t they look perfect? More than that there is a twist to this recipe with the addition of coffee granules. Now we’re talking!

Jumpy absolutely loves ginger biscuits and these Ginger Thins by ‘Allergy Mums’ look and sound perfect (we will just have to make them wheat-free).

This Pineapple Carpaccio With Chilli and Mint Served with Coconut Yoghurt by ‘Tara’s Busy Kitchen’ is an quick recipe you can rustle up at any time of the day.

Last but not least, Kate at ‘The Gluten Free Alchemist’ came up with this beauty of a cake: Pistachio, Lime & Olive Oil Cake with Blackcurrant Drizzle (gluten & dairy free).

Over to you now!

Grab the badge and add your posts below. Emma and I are looking forward to a good read with a cup of coffee in hand.

Morning! I’ve just linked up my latest gluten free and vegan (if you omit the yogurt) chilli recipe and shared the link party everywhere. Have a good week:)

Yay for no reactions!! We had a mystery hive flare up yesterday. It’s always frustrating when you can’t source the allergen. Trialling soya again this weekend so hoping it all goes well! #freefromfridays

It’s really annoying when you have no idea what a reaction was caused by. I once wondered for ages and ages why Jumpy had had a reaction, and she told me the following day she’d drank a bit of water out of her brother’s water bottle. That solved the mystery #crosscontamination

Oooh yum – such a lovely roundup. I agree about the colours – very welcome at the moment. I can’t wait for spring. This is definitely the worst time of year for me…I’m fine with it being cold and dark before Christmas – it kind of feels exciting and there are lots of pretty lights but after Christmas it just feels miserable!

I am linking up two recipes this week, a smoothie which is DF, GF and vegan, using the lovely Rude Health Coconut Milk, and a stew which is also dairy free and would be gluten free too without the dumplings (or possibly with the dumplings if swapped with GF flour, but I haven’t tried making dumplings with GF flour, so I’m not sure how that would turn out!) Eb x

I’ve never tried making dumplings with GF flour either. That could be a new challenge for Vicki!

      I can’t wait for spring!

Mel! I think I am finally figuring out blog tech land (for now). Not only is it my 5-month surgery anniversary and my first week baking properly in the kitchen again, I also managed to figure out how to tweet #FreeFromFridays, grab a badge, link my blog, and post to people. (Still working on adding links in my comment posts, though.) I’m always so happy to watch this group, and I’m even more happy now to be a part of such a vibrant community. Thanks, and Happy Friday. 🙂

    Lovely collection of recipes, yum!!!!
It’s good to hear that ‘nothing’ has happened allergy wise, long may it continue to stay stable! We’re still trying to get to that point, we’ve now added idiopathic reactions to our lovely big collection, so we’ll see what the consultant says in 2 weeks time about them! xx
