Beanie and Crevette had a little go at embroidery a few weeks ago. Beanie was leaving the pre-school she had been attending for a couple of years, and we wanted to put together a present to display in the classroom. We went for an embroidered canvas. The children chose what they wanted on there and I only supervised their work and helped when they wanted me to. I think they did a brilliant job!
What you need:
A canvas
PVA glue
A range of outdoor-themed embellishments (flowers, snails, leaves, rakes, birds, branches, etc.)
Pencil
Green thread
Needle
Scissors
What to do:
Start by gathering all embellishments and deciding where you want them on your picture.
Trace faint marks using a pencil to indicate where you want the embellishments to go.
Using the needle, pierce through the canvas to make it easier to put the thread through.
Sew the stems, then the flower heads.
Glue in other embellishments.
Make sure you sign your masterpiece before you give it as a present.

Thanks Fiona! x
Such a lovely craft idea for children and I’m sure would make a delightful present too. 🙂
They were pretty happy with it at the pre-school. They said they’d never had anything like it (I hope they meant it in a good way!).
What a brilliant idea Mel! Pinning this to my home ed board xx
Thanks sweetie. x
