10 Reasons to Go to BlogStock 2015

There are just over three weeks left before BlogStock (4th – 6th September 2015). When I went with Wriggly last year, I had no idea what to expect. I did not know anyone there and I had only started blogging a few months earlier. I learnt a lot there and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Mel & Wriggly at BlogStock 2014

“What is BlogStock?” I hear you think.

“A fun packed weekend of learning, experiencing, networking and partying! There are plenty of conferences out there aimed at all different blogging niches but they all take place indoors and keep to the usual “how to” sessions. At BlogStock we like to do things a little differently! We have some of the best bloggers and social media influencers in the world providing workshops, debate sessions and talks on the latest social trends. But what makes us different is we also have workshops and talks on food and nutrition, on psychology and wellbeing, we have yoga sessions and cooking schools, wine tasting and cocktail making! Product experiences and networking events! Not to mention the epic opening and closing parties in the evenings too. We pride ourselves on offering more than just your normal blogging conference. There’s something for everyone!”

With no further ado, here are my 10 reasons why all bloggers should attend BlogStock.

1- It is the World’s Only Blogging Festival

Camping, amazing workshops, talks on blogging, a range of activities, plenty of food, drink and evening entertainment… What more could you wish for?

2- Great Location

BlogStock takes place at the beautiful Aldenham Country Park  in Elstree, North London. It is easy to access. There is plenty of room to park and ample space for camping. If camping is not your thing then there are hotels within a 10 minute drive of the venue.

3- Tickets are Pretty Inclusive

Tickets include all sessions, workshops, talks, debates, discussions, hot showers, extra activities and entertainment including opening and closing parties. All you will have to get is your food.

4- Speakers

So far, no less than thirty-one speakers have been announced, from travel bloggers to foodies, social media managers, photographers, vlogging stars and even little me!

5- Range of Genres

BlogStock is completely different from ‘Mummy Blogger Events’ and we have so much to learn from other niches. Last year, “fashion bloggers taught travel bloggers how to grow their blogs in ways they previous hadn’t thought of. YouTubers taught food bloggers how to make the most of video on their blogs and Pinterest taught twitter influencers how they can grow their following even further.”

6- The Sessions

The variety of sessions is impressive, and the ones I am most looking forward to range from increasing positivity, social media health checks, earning money through blogging, accounting, setting blog goals, launching a business from your blog, blog design, getting over 100, 000 visitors each month, getting noticed as a blogger and DIY professional photography.

7- Families are Welcome

A family ticket  includes one blogger ticket as well as a second non-blogger ticket and unlimited children passes.

8- Activities

BlogStock is not just a string of sessions about blogging. There is a morning yoga session, a pizza making class, a photography assignment in the form of a photo walk with advice about aperture, shutter speed and composition. There will also be an opportunity to see up-close wild animals like meerkats and chameleons.

9- The Food

Wood Fired Pizzas, burgers, fish and vegetarian options, Thai Buffet, Danish food. I kid you not; all these food options will be available at BlogStock.

10- Brew School

Now that is exactly the incentive I needed to get Hubby to come with the kids for the weekend! There will be mini-brew demonstrations, taster sessions and a chance to be quizzed on your brewing skills. As for me, I am looking forward to the 1953 chrome Airstream Caravan serving nice drinks and classy cocktails all weekend.

My Twitter influence is pretty good, but I haven’t even started a blog / YouTube channel, etc. Would be great to learn more about how other people are doing things.

    • 13/08/2015 / 4:23 pm

You really should start a blog. Blogging is addictive, though! Which session would you find most appealing?

Would have to be “Bloggers, Reclaim Your Time!”, Mel…how do I have time for a blog when I spend so many hours doing other things? Maybe there’d be something for me to learn there! 🙂

        • 13/08/2015 / 10:18 pm

I definitely have loads to learn there, too! Blogging is my hobby so I tend to cook with the children during the day and write my recipes (or ramblings) at night when they are in bed.

    The Positive Outlook Session

    • 13/08/2015 / 4:24 pm

There are so many great sessions… ‘m really hoping there are not too many clashes so I can attend as many as possible.

  5. 13/08/2015 / 1:40 pm

I’d like to go to this session: Learn how to take risks and be a little crazy because I would love to break out of my shell and tell it like it is instead of worrying what other people will think.

    • 13/08/2015 / 4:26 pm

Me too! Taking risks online or revealing too much can be frightening, can’t it? Once it’s up there, it’s up there and can’t be undone. I still admire those who take risks and have fun!

      • 13/08/2015 / 10:07 pm

Yes, I admire people who are really open and want to get that brave. I love blogging but feel I need to change it and make it more personal and something people can relate to.

        • 13/08/2015 / 10:12 pm

You’ve really got a good point there. Being authentic, sharing who you are is important, isn’t it?

  6. 13/08/2015 / 1:51 pm

Have already bought my ticket! Look forward to seeing you there! x

    • 13/08/2015 / 4:26 pm

Indeed we are! Like buses haha, wait ages for one, and several come at once 😀 To River Cottage I go! Can’t wait x

The ‘how to grow followers to 140k on social media’ session! With all the social media channels constantly changing the way things work, and reducing audience reach, I’d love to see how to make it really work! x

Oh I didn’t spot this one! I’ll go with you if you’re coming. x

  11. 17/08/2015 / 11:09 pm

So many to choose from and all look so good. But ‘mobile photography for social media’ is one I am interested in. Thanks Mel.

Same here. I am definitely going to that one.

  12. 19/08/2015 / 6:58 pm

“How to boost your blogging creativity” is one workshop that jumps out at me however there are so many that I fear there may be a bit of FOMO if I’m lucky enough to win the family ticket so that my hubby and I can go and celebrate our wedding anniversary in Blogging Heaven 🙂

    • 19/08/2015 / 10:06 pm

Fingers crossed for you. You’d love it!
