3-Ingredient Homemade Ice Cream Ready in 3 Minutes

I have written about it before: we all love ice cream at home. Well, apart from Hubby, but he was an ice cream man in his twenties, so he says he has eaten all the ice cream he could ever eat!

My children all love play dates, whether it be having friends at our house or going to a classmate’s home. Homemade ice cream makes us all very happy, and whenever the children have friends over for a play date, I always make sure we have frozen fruit in the freezer for a quick treat.

On the way to the children’s swimming lessons this afternoon, we had a chat about play dates.

Me: “What do you like about play dates?”

Crevette (6 years 9 months): “I like seeing my friends and playing. That’s why it’s called play date!”

Beanie (4 years 7 months): “I can’t tell you it’s too funny. We eat sweets!”

Hubby: “She steals them then she eats them.”

Jumpy (2 years 6 months): “Play date. I like play dough. I like play date!”

Crevette: “I like cooking together and making smoothies, pizza or ice cream. We make our own. It’s nice having different ones and we can try each other’s as well.”

Beanie: “Mummy, I want your phone.”

OK, conversation over…

When I was asked whether I wanted to write a post including Petits Filous Magic Squares in Strawberry & Vanilla Flavour or Raspberry & Vanilla flavour, I did not hesitate for a second. I am always happy to help promote anything French that reminds me of my childhood. As far as I remember, I have always loved Petits Filous. My favourite ones are the strawberry Petits Filous, and I always take them to work as a snack. My little ones all ask for Petits Filous for dessert as well!

First of all, the children were all won over by the Magic Squares in both flavours, so was my mum. The size is perfect for little ones and they loved the fact they could mix the two flavours together, or eat one then the other. I have to say that I am a bit of a Petits Filous purist, and to me, nothing is better than the strawberry ones.

This challenge made us think of a creative way to use Petits Filous. When friends came over for a play date last week, we had the perfect opportunity. We put our ingredients together: Petits Filous Magic Squares, frozen strawberries and frozen banana. We also happened to have freeze dried strawberries in the cupboard (I know, fancy!) so I gave the little ones the option to add it to their own ice cream.

My Vitamix was once again the star of the show,

And a couple of minutes later, we had ice cream!

3-Ingredient Homemade Ice Cream Ready in 3 Minutes - in ice cream cones

Most of us had ours in ice cream cones, but because of her allergies, Jumpy could not have the ones we had at home. She did not mind as we gave them one of her ‘free from’ biscuits to dip in the ice cream.

As for Wriggly, I put her scoop in one of the Magic Squares pots, and she loved it!

I think Josh is a bit of a petit filous purist too. He’ll eat any colour but I’m sure he prefers strawberry, it always disappears more quickly.

We discovered frozen petit filous this week by accident when my friend’s fridge went funny and froze everything (we also had coffee with frozen milk!). It tastes so nice, definitely something I’m going to make again in future.

Random question. Where did you get the freeze dried strawberries from? I need some for something I want to try and make.

I use mine every day too.
I’m fine, just so busy, I feel like I don’t get a second to do anything I enjoy hence the lack of blogging.
