Today was a good day, full of fun, food, sleep, bags, tweets, shoes, chats … oh, and poo!
The sun was shining this morning and it was warm enough for short sleeves and flip flops. Although I was as sleep-deprived as ever and rather foggy headed, we managed to arrive at Crevette’s school early. That made him really happy.
Despite horrendous traffic on our way to Bicester, the girls’ quirky conversations at the back made for an entertaining journey. Wriggly was just snoring peacefully beside me.
It was freezing in Bicester! We quickly went in the first shop we saw. In the children’s section, I found a jumper for myself. It was reduced by 95%. Is there anything better to make you feel young than buying clothes meant for fourteen year olds?
Just before I dealt with a serious code brown explosion (Wriggly, not me!), I bought myself the Mulberry bag I had been coveting for years and pretty shoes.
Our picnic in the park with Nathalie, who blogs at Intolerant Gourmand, was a treat. We are both helping Allergy UK promote their #FreeFromFeast event, which takes place in June. Nath had even created a new cake recipe for the occasion, and it was a real success (I had four pieces!). The girls and Callum (none other than THE Intolerant Gourmand) had a great time running around and chasing birds.
As soon as we got home, Jumpy took her nappy off. She had done a poo. Why does she do that? Wriggly was quicker than me. Before I managed to grab the foul-smelling nappy, she had put her hands in it and was about to put one hand in her mouth… Yuck, yuck, yuck!
Bath was much needed. As the kids were splashing around and using a whole bottle of baby shampoo to make bubble beards, I checked my Twitter account. It had gone mad.
I had a few ‘well done’ tweets from quite a few of my blogger friends, but was puzzled. I found out the shortlist for the Brilliance in Blogging awards was announced today, not tomorrow as I thought. I have been shortlisted for ‘food’! To celebrate, here is a photo of Riz au Lait (it sounds so much better than rice pudding, doesn’t it?) the kids and I made a couple of days ago.
Thank you so much for everyone (Hi Mum!) who takes the time to read my little blog, share, try my recipes, comment and give me so much encouragement. I love my blog, but I love food more!
Today was a good day, full of poo, chats, shoes, tweets, bags, sleep, food, fun.
I have just voted for the BiBs. Will you? Just click here if you have 90 seconds to spare.
Ooh… I want to see that Mulberry bag 🙂 I need to make a trip to Bicester soon, haven’t been for ages.
I’ve wanted a Bayswater for as long as I can remember so imagine my surprise when I saw the exact one I wanted in the shop!
It was obviously meant to be. Every girl needs a few designer bags and shoes 😉
A well deserved nomination! I’ve just voted 🙂 😉 xxx PS. Did a little squeal when I read about the Mulberry bag – jealous! 🙂 xxx
Thank you so much my lovely! I am so glad we met on Saturday. It really was a brilliant day, wasn’t it? I have been stroking my new purse all day (pretty much every time I had a break at work, ha ha!). I am not sure I will ever use the bag. It is way too precious for me…
As lovely as your rice pudding picture is, what I was really hoping to see was a picture of your new handbag!
Congratulations on your nomination. Thoroughly deserved x
I know, I know. It may never come out of its bag, he he!
Just one thing to say: Woohhooowoohhoooo!!
Merci ma belle!
You deserve this so much, you know you have my vote, love your blog, adore you! Yay x
Many many congratulations Mel on making the shortlist, it is truly well deserved. It was so lovely to finally meet you last weekend, I hope we can catch up again soon. xxx
