Back to work in my Precis Petite dress | AD

Kids' Corner, Pregnancy & Birth

*The Precis Petite dress was given to me as a PR sample (Jacques Vert group).*

After over eight months on maternity leave, I had a meeting with my headteacher today. We were to discuss my returning to work. I am not normally one to worry about what I am wearing. I know my body shape and I just go for safe outfits I feel comfortable in. My new Precis Petite dress was what I had in mind for the meeting. However, when I started putting my outfit together yesterday afternoon, I started having doubts.

My list of things to do for the afternoon was longer than my arm. For once, Wriggly was asleep at the same time as Jumpy. I started fretting over what I was going to wear today. Thanks a lot to everyone who took the time to give me their advice and kind words on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter yesterday. You rock, ladies! I love combining yellow and green. The Precis Petite dress as well as a yellow hair clip would be perfect with my Martha Jackson earrings. They’ve been my favourites for months now.

Precis Petite Spot Print Prom Dress & Martha Jackson Earrings

This morning, I was wondering why I had been worrying about what I was going to wear. I realised that for the first time in months, I had had some time to myself.

The girls do not normally nap in sync, so I usually make the most of every minute I get. I end up doing things like unloading the dishwasher, cooking, folding the laundry, tidying up, or having a shower (luxury!). Yesterday, for the first time in months, I paid attention to myself and I am glad I did. I should do it more often. It is nice to make an effort rather than just wearing the same old trousers and tops. Today was a really nice day, full of excitement and chats with colleagues I had not seen in ages. I loved showing Wriggly around.

How do you choose your outfits for important occasions? Do you just wing it with trusty staples from your wardrobe? Or does it take you hours of planning and preparation?

    Coucou Mel.
Bisous, bisous.

Bisous

Not completely decided yet, but it could be soon. Wearing pretty dresses is lovely. The morning rush with my four monkeys might not be so much fun, but hey, I love my job!

Mel, that outfit is super chic! That turquoise with the polka dots is lovely and the contrasting shoes is the icing on the cake. This is Fiona commenting here from Oak’s Blog x

Oh my goodness you look beautiful! Well, you always look beautiful but even more beautiful than normal!!!! That dress is amazing and your accessories fabulous! I really need to learn some style from you. I have none and I generally don’t really care about what I wear. It never occurs to me to spend much time thinking about it because my wardrobe is pretty sparce!

I love the shoes! I tend to agonise over what to wear almost daily and then end up wearing pretty much the same things. I must make time to plan my outfits though like you have done. It gives more time to pick the accessories and match the colours. I love your colour choices too, by the way. #PoCoLo

Thanks! I have had those shoes for years. They are comfortable, pretty and a pop of yellow always brightens up a day, doesn’t it?

I usually plan mine. I am a boring person so I only own something that is in the black and gray spectrum! But my bag and accessories should have color. I would love to buy an orange watch if I can =) #pocolo

I have a lot of black, too. I like to try and cheer up outfits with a pop of colour, just because it puts me in a good mood, and that tends to be catching!
