Carnivore Club Charcuterie Boxes

We received our ‘Carnivore Club’ box the day before Wriggly’s birthday. It could not have come at a better time!

Baba’s birthday was a very relaxed affair. No planning whatsoever was involved. It sort of came together. I only invited three of my closest friends and their little ones.

We were going to have a picnic in our local park, but it was so cold we ended up at home. We still set up a picnic for the children on the decking, and after we had fed them, we had a nice glass of rosé wine, sandwiches and we shared a platter of cured meats, hummus and olives.

Our Carnivore Club box got opened, and most of it was eaten pretty quickly. Everyone without exception absolutely loved the coppa. In fact, I can safely say it was the best coppa I had ever had.

The coppa crisps were also nice, and my mum suggested they would be ideal to complement a pre-dinner drink with friends.

The devil’s sticks disappeared before the platter even reached the table, and they had a nice kick to them.

We also tried the chorizo, and it was clearly really good quality meat.

Carnivore Club - Perfect Platter to Share

When we were talking about the concept behind the Carnivore Club boxes, my friend Loraine immediately thought it would make the ideal present for her meat-lover husband.

Hubby was certainly won over. When he saw ‘Carnivore Club’ on the box, he was desperate to open it. He normally has a blasé attitude towards items I write about, but not this time! He was so funny (and atypically enthusiastic) that I recorded what he was saying.

Carnivore Club

“Ahhhh, meat!

Wow it’s amazing, you don’t even have to keep it in the fridge!

Ooooh, meat!

Look, it’s the same stuff we get in l’Alpe d’Huez!”

To be honest, at £32 for a one-off box, it is not something we would get on a regular basis, as it is a treat rather than a necessity, but I do love the high quality of the meat, the fact it is all produced in Britain.

It still is the sort of present I would get for a male friend for a special occasion.

A set of whiskey stones… you put them in the freezer and they work like ice cubes but don’t melt so don’t dilute the drink. He says they work really well.
