After over eight months on maternity leave, I had a meeting with my boss today, to discuss my returning to work. I am not normally one to worry about what I am wearing. I know my body shape and I just go for safe outfits I feel comfortable in. I was definitely going to wear my new Precis Petite dress, but when I started putting my outfit together yesterday afternoon, I started having doubts.
I had a list of things to do longer than my arm for the afternoon. For once, Wriggly was asleep at the same time as Jumpy but I was fretting over what I was going to wear today. Thanks a lot to everyone who took the time to give me their advice and kind words on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter yesterday. You rock, ladies! I love combining yellow and green, and my Martha Jackson earrings have been my favourites for months now.
This morning, I was wondering why I had been worrying about what I was going to wear, and I realised that for the first time in months, I had had some time to myself.
The girls do not normally nap in sync, so I usually make the most of every minute I get to unload the dishwasher, cook, fold the laundry, attempt tidying up, or even have a shower (luxury!). Yesterday, for the first time in months, I paid attention to myself and I am glad I did. I should do it more often. It is nice to make an effort rather than just wearing the same old trousers and tops. Today was a really nice day, full of excitement and chats with colleagues I had not seen in ages and showing Wriggly around.
How do you choose your outfits for important occasions? Do you just wing it with trusty staples from your wardrobe or does it take you hours of planning and preparation?
I was gifted the Precis Petite Spot Print Prom Dress as well as a black shrug with pearl (Jacques Vert Group) dress for my work meeting. All photos and opinions are mine.
