Food, Free From Recipes

Today, I just wanted to tell you a bit more about the Free From Food Awards. I was a judge in a couple of categories and absolutely loved being behind the scenes of the awards. The ceremony was last week. What a night! Check my friend Rebecca’s video for an idea of what the Free From Food Awards Ceremony was like:

If you’ve ever had to go on an exclusion diet, you will probably have experienced the following: there are things you miss, others you wish you could have and foods you managed to replace but which just don’t taste ‘right.’

In the past few years, the ‘free from’ world has really evolved and there are now more and more amazing products out there. Out is cardboard-like bread, in are innovative and delicious-tasting treats.

Here are my favourites from the Free From Food Awards:

My absolute favourite was the Ugo Thrive Pumpkin And Sage Raviolini. This pasta was so delicious I went back to the buffet three times to taste it ‘just one more time!’ Here is what the judges said: ‘No Top 14 allergens in a filled pasta! Absolutely stunning – even seems a reasonable price. Would happily buy it for whole family.’ ‘Great flavour, holds together really well, cooks well and works on its own or with a sauce of your choice.’

Pretty close comes the delicious, addictive, chocolatey Booja Booja Hazelnut Crunch Truffles. Oh my… these are sublime. There’s no other word for them.

The innovative and delicious Tiger Boost Snack Pot by Jake’s Boost is one of the most unusual yet delicious snacks I’ve had, and I love it!

The highlight this year for the Free From Comms Collective was seeing the lovely ladies from Wildcraft Bakery win Gold for their gorgeous gluten free sourdough bread. They also won in the startup category, which will enable them to get mentoring from Tesco. How brilliant is that?

Wow – what a bunch of fab foods – fab in their own right, let alone for the fact they are also free from. That pasta that you had thirds of sounds amazing!! It’s amazing how far free from foods have come in such a short space of time. Eb x

It really is incredible. When Jumpy had to go wheat-free, the pasta was gloopy and tasted pretty awful. The options are so good these days I don’t mind going for the GF option for the whole family!

Those Booja Booja truffles are just insane! But yes, the pasta won for me too.

Oooh I love that orgran easy egg – although I can’t bring myself to use it as a whole egg type meal, (Have an egg food phobia) it works really really well in yorkshires & pancakes! Going to try a brioche recipe with it too soon!

I’m sad I didn’t make it to the awards this year. It looks like there were some very well deserving winners!
