Good morning! It’s #FreeFromFridays time again. We have received three complimentary gluten-free boxes from HelloFresh and I wanted to tell you a little bit about them. When I was working full time, I would get the boxes regularly, but I haven’t had them for a couple of years.
The principle is simple: you choose your favourites from the weekly menu and decide how many meals want to go for and pick a number of people. Then the recipes and fresh ingredients get delivered to your door. There are recipes for couples, families, meat eaters, vegetarians, families, low calorie options and even a quick option for the time-poor. You don’t have to have a box every week and there’s a handy app where you can control all of the above.
I personally love the fact the recipes are varied and healthy. It means steering away from the recipes I cook again and again every single week. The fact everything comes in the right quantities is also a huge time-saver. My four love helping and the fact it’s all pre-measured makes it super simple.
You can select the ‘no gluten containing ingredients menu’ in your preferences if you are a three meal classic box customer. Those recipes only contain ingredients which naturally do not contain any gluten, but they are not suitable for people with coeliac disease since the ingredients are not GF certified.
This Thai Mussaman rice has been my absolute favourite over the fast few weeks:

Love those companies who do recipe boxes. Not tried Hello Fresh, but tried a couple of the others. They are brilliant for busy weeks!! Eb x
I’ve tried a couple too and I went with Hello Fresh when I was really busy at work because they were soooo good 🙂
Hi, we have tried some of these style boxes but found them not suitable for me having to buy the alternatives. I think they are great in principle #freefromfridays
I bet, although to be honest, there was very little dairy in the 3 boxes we tried. One recipe had butter in, another one cream but that’s about it. It was mostly dairy-free. x
I’ll second that we tried Hello Fresh and that one, in particular, was easy to skip the provided (and separately sealed) mayo, sour cream, etc or the “saute in butter” step and just use our own dressings and oils. Some of the services preseason a lot, though, or mix things together, and that was more challenging for avoiding ingredients, for sure!
I also tried quite a few of those boxes when I was struggling with Jumpy’s diet and fretting a lot. HelloFresh was the best by a long stretch and so so easy to adapt!
Those boxes are great to make you get out a rut and try new things aren’t they. We didn’t have the gluten free ones but they were still quite allergy friendly, not much dairy and very easy to adapt.
They really are! I always thought they were brilliant. We used to have the ‘normal’ family ones and I could always really easily adapt one portion for Jumpy to be gluten-free / dairy-free / nut-free and egg-free 🙂
SO many lovely recipes! So chuffed to have linked up x
I’m really glad you joined us! I absolutely love your recipe. I must have pinned it on 10 of my boards or so not to forget about it!
