I’ve always loved wearing a watch. I remember how happy I felt when my mum let me pick my first watch. We went for a Flik Flak, a Swiss watch designed to help me learn how to tell the time and I’d gone for a bold one rather than the girly one all my friends liked. That’s definitely where my love for unusual watches stems from. Ever since, I’ve rarely been without a watch and the ones that catch my attention are always the most unusual watches.
My friends would laugh at the thought I ever pay any attention to my watch, since I tend to be about an hour late for absolutely everything (oops!). It’s not to do with the fact I have 4 children, it’s just me. I do look at my watch, but I’m also overoptimistic about what I can achieve in a minute or two, hence the chronic lateness…

I won’t lie: when I first heard of JORD watches a couple of years ago, I thought wooden watches were an odd concept, but after seeing them on social media again and again, I started getting used to the idea. So when the people at JORD asked me to pick one of their wooden watches, I didn’t hesitate for a second. They create unique watches for modern lifestyles with a focus on sustainability, a core value close to my heart. Their timepieces are well built, luxurious and unlike any other, so I thought, why not?

I opted for one of the newest styles in the JORD collection, the Hyde series, for its minimalistic design. When I received my Sandalwood & Olive wood Hyde watch, I was impressed by its high-end look. The packaging was also consistent with the brand and a lovely smell emanated from the box as I opened it.
It was immediately obvious that the traditional-looking watch was also luxurious, with a strong emphasis on quality.

I’ve found the Hyde surprisingly versatile and stylish, no matter what I have been wearing. I’ve worn it with torn jeans and faded T-shirts, smart casual outfits and beautiful dresses. Its minimalist and natural look quite simply blends in.

My new watch is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I also love the fact that JORD have an engraving service, so you could personalise your watch or cedar box to add an extra touch to this timeless gift.

What do you think about JORD’s wooden watches?
Disclosure: This blog post is sponsored by JORD but all opinions are my own.
What a fantastic watch, really stands out. I’m going to show this post to a guy at work who’s always interested in unique timepieces such as this!
It really does, doesn’t it?
That’s a gorgeous watch!! I too love the more unusual watches, and it must be a French thing because my 1st watch was also a flik flak (blue) and then a pop swatch (again blue) before going for my first leather strap with a face which showed the moon at night and sun during the day. My friends all loved that one!
A good watch, and one that is timeless is always a must!
I’m off to investigate the Jord range now, maybe an early birthday present to myself….! 🙂
My 2nd watch was a Pop Swatch too!!! I had a few of those actually in my teenage years. They were so cool, weren’t they? Crevette also got a Flik Flak as his first watch. I do love a good, timeless watch that goes with all my clothes but is also unusual 🙂
Such a gorgeous watch, thanks for sharing! My birthday is coming up so this might be on my hint list!
I love the idea of a hint list, you clever lady!
I love the idea of a wooden watch – and this one looks gorgeous. I bet the wood is really tactile too – and would be great for people with sensitive skin! I’ve been relying on my mobile phone for the time for far too long – I ‘ll have to take a look at these instead.
It does feel really nice on my skin actually!
I think those wooden watches look awesome! Hoping they have a pennant or nurse style watch as I can’t wear watches on my wrists anymore. Love the natural colours!
My mum can’t wear watches on her wrist either. For some reason, they all stop working after a day or two (always found that really spooky).
Hi Mel
What a great idea. Metal always feels a bit cold on the skin, but wood feels warm. We love wood! And the design is really beautiful. It suits your arm very well 😉

That’s definitely a great point! I love the fact my JORD watch doesn’t feel cold on my skin.
I love the wooden look of the jord watches, anything a little unusual is great x
Thanks Rhian
These are so unusual but when I saw it in real life at the retreat I was so impressed by what it was like in real life. Quite stylish!
Thanks sweetie 🙂
I have a JORD watch too and love it, it was definitely an odd concept before but then after some research I fell in love with it.
