Printables for the Dad Who Doesn’t Want Anything

I’ve never struggled to get presents for my husband. Far from that. I love finding little presents that are thoughtful and useful. The only problem is he genuinely doesn’t want anything. Seriously, if at any point you asked me, “What could I get you?” I would easily come up with a list longer than my arm within a few minutes. There’s always something that takes my fancy, so I find it tough, weird even, when someone tells me they want absolutely nothing. Not. One. Thing.

The thing is, he is not into gifts at all and most of the time, presents I give him are a bit of a flop, so for Father’s Day this year, we went for notes written by my four little ones. Who doesn’t like something made by their children?  I thought I would share the printables I found on Pinterest as they are brilliant, and since I have a range of ages at home, it could come in handy for a few of my friends.

  • For Babies and Toddlers

Check this nice and easy card from ‘The Mombot.’ You can ‘help’ baby by writing the top 3 things they love about their dad, like cuddles, blowing raspberries and taking them to the park. If they are older, you can ask them why their dad is the best and you can write it for them. You can then help them draw the faces on the stick men.

When I attempted it with Wriggly, she wasn’t in the mood and decided to make her own doodles, declaring afterwards, “That’s not daddy. That’s a robo-dog.” OK then. ‘Robo-dog’ it is. Happy Father’s Day!

The Dad Who Doesn’t Want Anything... he's a tough one to buy for, isn't he? The thing is, what do you get him for Father's Day? Chocolates? Beer? Socks??

  • For Preschoolers

I printed this one for Jumpy (4 years old) as the sentence starters were simple enough for her to fully understand. She drew all over the page and I started the sentences, writing as she was finishing them without thinking too much. She said sweet things like: “My Dad is 6 years old.” and “He is smart because he knows 1 + 1 = fish.” (bless her!).

  • For Children Who Are Starting to Write

Beanie is 6 and she is pretty good at reading. She can also write a fair bit. This Father’s Day Questionnaire is really cute and she loved filling it in. Apparently, her dad is 72 years old and he’s really good at watching  (??) and she finds him funny.

  • For Older Children

This Questionnaire by ‘The Crafting Chicks’ was perfect for Crevette (8 years old). There’s even a version for grandfathers.

As I was about to get a little Father’s Day present from the children, I asked them what their daddy might like. Here is what they answered:

Beanie and Crevette, in unison: “Beer!”

Jumpy: “A new watch. I think he wants a pink watch.”

Wriggly: “Chocolate!”

Right, a pink watch might not be received too well (I can picture him wearing a pink plastic watch with a unicorn or a troll on it, ha ha!), but beer and chocolate will definitely make good presents. Check the mahoosive Hotel Chocolat hamper we were sent!

It’s so hard to get anything for my dad now, as he’s 91! Can’t drink as on meds, doesn’t smoke thankfully not since his 40’s, isn’t allowed a lot of chocolate but loves his gadgets. So much that he hasn’t much of a clue how to use them but always seems to end up deleting everything! I think the best gift for most dads is something inexpensive and a novelty that relates to their hobby.

Hi Mel, I love coconut oil too but find it quite expensive. Have you found a good, relatively cheap jar as you must get through loads if you cook with it, use it on your skin and hair etc? Also, do you have the name of the French spray please? i want to look up the oils and ingredients. I love finding new products that are natural but need to avoid a few things. Thanks, perhaps you can email me.

Hey lovely, I’ve put direct link to all the products in the description part of my YouTube video. You’ll find it if you click on the video and ask to be redirected to YouTube. For the coconut oil, I just found and bought a 1L jar (that’s massive!!) for less than £10 🙂 The link is there too. Let me know if you’re struggling to get to the links on YouTube and I’ll paste them in a comment 🙂
