Snapshots & Scenes from December

Fun with the Little Ones, Kids' Corner

Happy New Year! I don’t think there would be a better way to start 2018 on my little blog than with a few of my favourite photos and video clips from December 2017.

The Snapshots and Scenes post I put together every month is my favourite thing. It all started a few months ago when I first filmed little snippets of our daily lives. I’d never really done that before. I had tried to capture the milestones, the ‘big’ moments like the first steps, the first bike ride without stabilisers, bits of Christmas concerts and daring first attempts on the zip wire at the park. What I wasn’t recording was the everyday stuff, the ‘little things’ that make me feel so happy.

During the summer,  a group of fab creative bloggers and I came up with Snapshots & Scenes, a monthly project focusing on video and photos. The idea is simple: as you are enjoying the little moments with your family, record them on camera or film and share your favourite bits with us, ideally through photo and video.

On the first Monday of every month, I put together a short video of no more than 60 seconds, to capture the essence of the month just gone. I generally start with about 30 minutes of footage, and although it is tough to select a clip rather than another, or to trim it so much that only 1 second remains, it is also pretty satisfying to see those snippets of our daily lives, the absolute gold nuggets from our month just gone. I have a lot to learn, so bear with me, but I’m having fun! Just scroll to the bottom to join us!

Our December was all about

  • Art club
  • Getting to play with Cozmo
  • Beanie’s first ballet exam
  • Colds and snotty noses
  • Playgroup photography
  • 1-to-1 time with mummy
  • Baking
  • Snow
  • Glandular fever
  • Art club
  • Seeing Father Christmas at Willows Farm
  • Christmas performances
  • Parties
  • Queen and Adam Lambert live at the o2
  • A visit from my cousin Maxime
  • Piano practice
  • A new shed for our bikes
  • A fun road trip to France
  • Vomiting bugs
  • Catching up with family in France
  • Christmas!
  • Silly games

On the first Monday of every month, I put together a Snapshots & Scenes video. This is our December in a bit more than 60 seconds.

Snapshots & Scenes… What’s that?

‘Snapshots & Scenes’ is a monthly project to focus on telling a story through video and photos. It can be a summary of the past month or highlight a special occasion or the little things.

Who can join in?

Absolutely anyone! We would love to find out about your little and big adventures, see what you did in June and hear your stories.

Who is behind Snapshots & Scenes?

Here is the team behind Snapshots & Scenes. My co-hosts are all talented photographers who have a lovely story to tell and it is a real honour to be amongst this inspirational bunch.

It’s so hard to condense video down isn’t it? I struggle getting mine within a 60 second window! Lovely video this months, looks like you have been busy! Happy New Year! #snapshotsandscenes

It’s my first time going over 60 seconds, but i just couldn’t do it this month 🙂 There were too many memories I wanted to keep on there. x

Sooo hard to condense down into highlights isn’t it? Especially in December when there’s all the Christmas activities and events happening! Love your videos, always so much family fun : )

I know! I was a bit annoyed with myself at first for not trying harder to make it to 60 seconds (I managed until now!), but I thought, “What the heck?” I wanted all these memories in there and there they are 🙂 xxx

Ahh looks like you have had such a great time. I find it hard to keep to my minute went over a little this month too. But so many memories you want to be in there and not miss a second out. 🙂 I hope you had a great Happy New Year and I hope this project really takes off this year and it’s been lovely starting it with you.

I agree with you my lovely. Those moments are way too precious not to appear in there and it doesn’t really matter if I go a bit over a minute, he he! So so glad we started this little project back in August. I absolutely love it!

I have to say I always go over the minute, it’s just so hard to delete moments, especially this month with Christmas morning magic 🙂 Looks like you had a lovely month apart from the vomit LOL 🙂

We really did have a great month. The vomiting was just a small hurdle and it’s already forgotten about 🙂 xxx

Getting better now, but shaking glandular fever off is taking a lot longer than I expected. I was lethargic all day today and finally succumbed at 6 p.m. and had a nap whilst watching Horrible Histories with the children.

What a gorgeous month and video. I completely forgot to comment when I popped over at the beginning of the month – sorry love. I sometimes have a little under and definitely have over a minute this month x

I always struggle to keep it under a minute, but I’m also really pleased when I manage to keep it short and sweet: it gives such a lovely snapshot of what our month has been like 🙂
