Snapshots & Scenes from July 2018

Fun with the Little Ones, Kids' Corner

At the start of every month (well, during the month), I put together a Snapshots and Scenes video and blog post about the previous month and it’s my favourite thing to do.

It all started a few months ago when I first filmed little snippets of our daily lives. I’d never really done that before. I had tried to capture the milestones, the ‘big’ moments like the first steps, the first bike ride without stabilisers, bits of Christmas concerts and daring first attempts on the zip wire at the park. What I wasn’t recording was the everyday stuff, the ‘little things’ that made me feel so happy.

At the start of every month, I now put together a short video of a minute or so, to capture the essence of the month just gone. I generally start with what seems like hours of footage, and although it’s tough to select a clip rather than another, or to trim it so much that only 1 second remains, it’s also pretty satisfying to see those snippets of our daily lives, the absolute gold nuggets from our month just gone. I have a lot to learn, so bear with me, but I’m having fun! Just scroll to the bottom to join me!

The idea is simple: as you are enjoying ‘the little things’ with your family, record them on camera, film them on your phone or ‘big’ camera and share your favourite bits, ideally through photo and video.

Our July was all about…

  • Heat and sunshine
  • A picnic in Leicester
  • Open air cinema
  • Sleepovers
  • The start of the summer holidays
  • Ice cream
  • Liquid Leisure with friends
  • Laser tag
  • Camp Bestival
  • The Allergy & Free From Show
  • An afternoon at the Grove
  • Wriggly turning 10!
  • Sparklers

Sounds good to me! Those pictures are lovely, I remember being squeezed in to a car with all our bags! I especially like the lavender field picture.

Thanks lovely! The car was really full but since it’s so big, we all have space.

It looks like you had a wonderful July and you have the pictures to capture your memories. I love the giant chessboard, I bet the kids had fun playing with that.

They really did, although they can’t play chess, so it was just a bit of fun moving the pieces!

Oh always struggle to remember to pick up my camera and record those moments, but love your videos and all of them put together. I know my kids would love those too to look back on

I always try to stop and remind myself that those little things are in fact the big things. Children are small for such a short period of time 🙂
