Snapshots & Scenes from March 2018

Fun with the Little Ones, Kids' Corner

March was such a whirlwind. It started with a snowstorm and ended with rain, rain and more rain. Come on Spring, hurry up!

The Snapshots and Scenes post I put together every month is my favourite thing. It all started a few months ago when I first filmed little snippets of our daily lives. I’d never really done that before. I had tried to capture the milestones, the ‘big’ moments like the first steps, the first bike ride without stabilisers, bits of Christmas concerts and daring first attempts on the zip wire at the park. What I wasn’t recording was the everyday stuff, the ‘little things’ that made me feel so happy.

On the first day of every month, I put together a short video of a minute or so, to capture the essence of the month just gone. I generally start with what seems like hours of footage, and although it’s tough to select a clip rather than another, or to trim it so much that only 1 second remains, it’s also pretty satisfying to see those snippets of our daily lives, the absolute gold nuggets from our month just gone. I have a lot to learn, so bear with me, but I’m having fun! Just scroll to the bottom to join me!

The idea is simple: as you are enjoying ‘the little things’ with your family, record them on camera, film them on your phone or ‘big’ camera and share your favourite bits, ideally through photo and video.

Our March was all about

  • World Book Day
  • Snow days
  • Meeting Max the bird
  • A snowball fight
  • Eating lots of Mexican Food
  • Bike rides
  • Climbing
  • Balancing
  • Lunchboxes
  • Lots of one-to-one time for Beanie and Mummy
  • Messy church
  • Cute new ballet costumes
  • Soft play
  • Ballet show
  • Play dates at home
  • A day inspiring each other with Emma, Rebecca, Nath and a few of our children
  • A day out for Mother’s Day
  • Ask Italian Restaurant in London with my friend Reneé and her brood
  • London Transport Museum fun
  • Long walks
  • Cooking together
  • Chopping
  • Getting excited about Easter
  • Lots of new clothes
  • Disney plush toys
  • Squishy craze
  • New scooters
  • Working at Sweet as a Button
  • IKEA
  • Rain
  • Willows Farm

Snapshots & Scenes… What’s that?

‘Snapshots & Scenes’ is a monthly project to focus on telling a story through video and photos. It can be a summary of the past month or highlight a special occasion or the little things.

Who can join in?

Absolutely anyone! I’d love to find out about your little and big adventures, see what you got up to last month and hear your stories. Anything goes, really!

I love their book day and dancing show costumes, they look so cute. Did you have to do any sewing for them? I’ll always remember the blue eyeshadow and red lipstick and the sequins, so many sequins!! I hope have a love for it for many more years x

Thankfully, I didn’t have to do any sewing for the costumes. They were all so pretty! Blue eyeshadow and red lipstick all round here too 🙂

What a gorgeous month of photos and adventures, and what a gorgeous little ballerina. That sweet shop looks fab, I think I’m going to take George to an old fashioned sweet shop this weekend. Thanks for joining us over at #MyFamilyAdventures

The sweet shop is amazing. Miranda has everything in there, from sweets children are used to see in a pick n’mix to traditional sweets to sweets I loved in the 80s. So so good!

The little video I make every month is my favourite thing to do: I get to remember the fun stuff we’ve been up to, and laugh at my 4 little ones’ silliness 🙂

What a lovely wrap up for the month of March – both the ordinary and fun enjoyed, with beautiful captures to document it. I just love the World Book Day costumes!

We just fumbled in cupboards to find stuff we had at home 🙂 That Petit Prince costume was a tad small, but we’d been given it years ago and he was determined to wear it!
