Snapshots & Scenes from July

Fun with the Little Ones, Kids' Corner

Although I love watching videos of my children, I tend to take photos of them rather than filming them in action. When I film short clips, I do absolutely nothing with them. Just me? In come Snapshots & Scenes, a monthly project a group of fab creative bloggers and I are taking part in. The idea is simple: as you are enjoying the little moments with your family, record them on film or on camera and share them with the world, ideally through photo and video.

On the first Monday of every month, I will be putting together a short video of no more than a minute, to capture the essence of the month just gone. I really love a challenge. It helps me focus and have a good go at doing something new. I have a lot to learn, so bear with me.

Why not join us by linking your own Snapshots & Scenes from the past month?

Our July has been all about:

  • ice cream
  • new swimsuits for the girls
  • free tennis sessions
  • sleepovers
  • catching up with friends
  • splash parks and sunshine
  • start of the summer challenge at the library
  • rainy days
  • Crevette’s first YouTube video with his friend Polly
  • cheeky monkeys
  • days out at the park
  • being adventurous and taking risks
  • my big boy turning 9
  • cooking

On the first Monday of every month, I will be putting together a Snapshots & Scenes video. This is our July in just 60 seconds.

Mel, I’m in love with your video intro, it’s so happy! Lovely account of your month just past, I wish we had a splash park near us (not that the weather has been decent enough!)

Thanks lovely. I am so in love with it too! We’ve got a couple of splash parks near us, but we haven’t been near them in at least 3 weeks… I need some sunshine!

Oh Mel these are so darling. I love your photography and lighting everytime is beautiful. Great monthly roundup again. What a fab way to share and document our family memories. I am loving this new linky and I think once it catches on this winter so many will love it too.

Same here: I am in love with our little monthly project and it’s my absolute favourite thing at the moment to film snippets of our lives and editing it all down to a minute. xx

    Beautiful photos Mel.
It’s interesting…. I have a real aversion to putting my child pics on social media. I think I only have a couple out there. I really worry about the implications of her pictures being out there and what others might do with them….. and very aware that my job not only makes me very wary, but also could place her at greater risk. As she has got older it begins to feel easier (or do I just have less control?) although with age has come a greater reluctance on her part…. x

I was exactly the same. I used to take photos of their hands only, their backs, their legs but never their faces, then I started making videos and I now use their faces. Since there is nothing there that would lead to them being laughed at, I doubt it would lead to bullying. However, I am aware that ill-thinking people might steal and use my photos…

Gorgeous video, love the intro! Very swish. I love this project so much, really testing my ability and memory to record on film too! We did the summer reading challenge last year, completely forgot this year! I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer holidays x
