This morning, we got up earlier than usual. Beanie and Jumpy left with hubby just after 7 a.m. and Wriggly was asleep. Crevette and I had over an hour to ourselves so we decided to make some smoothie for breakfast. We wanted to start our day full of vitamins and energy! Considering I woke up at 3 and 4 a.m. with Wriggly, the boost was much needed. I rock the ‘bags under the eyes’ look!
I am a real newbie when it comes to making smoothies and I do not have the adequate equipment but giving up is not in my nature! My little man and I really wanted to include crushed ice in our smoothie, so we tried putting ice cubes in a freezer bag and bashing them with a rolling pin. We failed miserably and ended up with bits of ice everywhere as the bag burst. No ice, then!
Even with no crushed ice, our smoothies were delicious and they took less than five minutes to make. All you have to do is chop your fruit and blend the four ingredients together. My ancient soup blender did a great job and we enjoyed our healthy treat.

Sunshine Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup pineapple chunks 150g
- 1/2 cup chopped mango 75g
- 1 cup orange juice 250ml
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
- Blend all the ingredients together and enjoy!
Ohh yum! That sounds so tasty and very refreshing!
Thanks Kim, it was yummy!
That sounds like a deliciously refreshing smoothie to really wake your mouth up!
It did! Thanks Alex x
Really does sound like sunshine in a glass, I shall have to make it. Looks totally delicious.
It is! Summer is not over yet and I am clinging on to it!
I look forard to giving this a go. It looks delicious!
Thanks Tania, let me know if you do!
I did mean ‘forward’. I can spell forward, really I can!
Haha, you make me laugh!
Lovely sounding ingredients! I sooo need a blender…I keep hinting in the hope hubby might surprise me one day but I know it won’t happen!! All I have is a food processor but it wouldn’t cope with doing something like this unless in huge quantities! Ho hum.
Same here, I just have a food processor and my old soup blender. The latter worked well for this smoothie. A Vitamix would be amazing!
Oh don’t mention that word!!!!
I know, naughty but nice!
That sounds so gooooood! My favourite fruits all mixed in to one smoothie – I’ve never thought of combining these three favourites together so thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to try it.
It works really well, you should try it!
What a fabulous way to start the day! I love smoothies but go through phases of making them for weeks and then nothing for ages! You’ve inspired me to enter a phase of having them again I think! x
If you do, enjoy! Homemade smoothies are such a lovely treat!
Yum – I really need to find a way to grow mangoes! I had to make peach chutney instead of mango chutney which is my #TastyTuesdays recipe this week!
Peach chutney sounds heavenly!
This looks and sounds fab lovely! My girls are big smoothie fans – banana for 2yo and mango for 5yo 😉 #tastytuesdays
Banana is also great is smoothies! We use the ‘One ingredient ice cream’ as our base and then add strawberries and juice. Yum!
Oh that’s a nice alternative to a morning piece of fruit. We sometimes squeeze orange juice and the children love it – and they drink more! Lovely idea x
Fresh juice in the morning is lovely, isn’t it? I wish we had oranges at home for tomorrow. x
Ooh I’ll have to add this to our ‘Smoothie Sunday’ options. Sounds delicious and full of vitamins – all good!! #tastytuesday
‘Smoothie Sunday’… I like your style!
I told you we did Smoothie Sunday! Did you see my pic on Instagram this morning?
I just saw it! Yum… x
That sounds so fresh and summery and perfect any time of the day 🙂 #tastytuesdays
It really is delicious and refreshing!
We recently won a coveted Vitamix machine and I’m always looking for new juice and smoothie recipes and this looks like a delicious one – just what we need to fight the back to school germs!
#TastyTuesdays
You lucky lady! How did you win a Vitamix? x
At Britmums – so chuffed as neither of us ever win anything!! x
I bet you love it! I wish I had one, but they are so expensive!
I haven’t masted the crushed ice yet either, my blender just doesn’t do the job. The smoothie looks gorgeous and refreshing
A bit of crushed ice was all we needed to make it perfect, really! I keep dreaming about getting a Vitamix…
Sounds easy peasy to make and I bet it was delicious! YUM #TastyTuesdays
It took minutes. So worth it!
Wow that looks amazing! Thanks for linking up to #tastytuesdays
Thanks Vicki!
That looks nice, I’ve lately gotten really into smoothies as it’s a very easy way to eat fruit.
Me too!
