Thomas the Tank Engine – Jumpy and the Christmas Rescue

Fun with the Little Ones, Kids' Corner

Today, there was a bit more than a chocolate coin in Jumpy’s advent calendar.

My little lady was over the moon when I handed her a personalised Christmas story we got through the post today.

She spotted her name on the cover and when I told her to look closely at the picture, she saw a little girl who looked like herself: excited little girl in the house!

Ordering was pretty quick and took no more than 5 minutes from start to finish on my phone. The book includes my little girl’s name, her best friend’s as well as a main character that looks like her (hair colour and style). I really think that makes a perfect personalised present.
From the first page, my little girl knew she was going to feature in the story as Thomas’ Really Useful friend.

Here is how it goes… Thomas has a really important job today. He has to take the children to see Father Christmas. When Thomas and the children arrive at Great Waterton, Father Christmas cannot  be seen anywhere. Will Christmas be cancelled?

Thomas and Jumpy go in search of Father Christmas. As they are about to give up and return to the station, Jumpy spots Father Christmas.

By this point in the story, my little girl was over the moon to be so involved in the story. There was much cheering! She loved the story so much she wanted me to read it again (and again!) straight away. Jumpy really loved hearing her name page after page. Then she started ‘reading it’ to herself and to her sister.

Chocolates and Reading

Although she loves stories, Jumpy does not yet get too engrossed in books. She just likes listening to us telling her a story, but this book was different. She was engaged from the start, as she was at the centre of the story. For the first time, she chose to have a book in her hands and turn the pages, telling the story in her own words and that was priceless!

Fancy the book at a reduced price?

My boys are huuuuuuge Thomas fans and would love this. I’m going to show it to Jon later and I suspect we may well put in an order.
