10 Minute Crafts – Valentine’s Day Present for Children

Crafty Corner, Homemade Presents

Is there a better way to ask, “Will you be my Valentine?” other than with chocolates?

My little man and I were going to make truffles for Valentine’s day, but life got in the way and it did not happen this time round. Coincidentally, Hotel Chocolat asked us whether we wanted some of their chocolates for Valentine’s (yes please!).

I chose The Valentine’s Day Sleekster for us and it did not disappoint! The all-important menu was telling me that some of my favourite flavours were included, alongside some unusual beauties (Passion Fruit Truffle, gin amongst others). They were (see my use of the past tense here…) all heart-shaped and each one was prettier than the next.

What I love about Hotel Chocolat is the little touches. The box came in a big, luxurious gift bag, and a card with my name was attached to it. They really know how to make a present look special!

Sorry, I digress. No chocolates were made at home, so little man and I decided to put together small jars of chocolates using what we had at home.
What you need:

10 Minute Crafts - Quick Valentine’s Day Present for Children to Put Together - What You Need
Chocolates, homemade or shop-bought
Glass jars, washed and sterilised
Scraps of fabric
Scissors
Paintbrush
PVA glue
Thin elastic bands
Pretty ribbon or thread
Chalkboard labels and pen
Card

What to do:
Start by filling the sterilised jars with chocolates and closing them.

Cut the fabric so it fits nicely around the jar lids.

Using PVA glue mixed with a little water, brush the top of each jar lid.

Place the fabric on top and secure around the lid with an elastic band. The fabric will look white and wet, but it will dry.

Write a note for your Valentine on a chalkboard label, using an adequate pen.

Stick a label on each jar.

On another label, write the recipient’s name.

Stick on card, cut around and attach to the jar with ribbon or tread.

Make someone happy!

Disclosure: Bostik sent us a selection of crafting supplies free of charge as part of the Tots100/Bostik Craft Bloggers’ Club. The box of chocolates from Hotel Chocolat was also a gift. All photos and opinions are my own.
