What do you Carry Around in your Handbag?

Home Sweet Home, Organisation

I love bags but I would not say I am a changing bag kind of person. I treated myself to a really pretty, trendy ‘Yummy Mummy’  one when I had Wriggly, and my friend Adeline bought me the perfect JJ Cole spotty one when I had Beanie, but I did not get a new one when I had Jumpy or Wrigglu.

I stopped using my changing bag when Jumpy was three or four months old. One day, I just moved all my stuff as well as the little ones’ nappies, wipes and changes of clothes into a handbag. It was not that much of a change, but I felt like a woman again.

I do carry an awful lot around. I just like to be prepared for anything. So if you are ever out with me and you need a plaster or a sewing kit, fear not: I have both in my bag!

What do you Carry Around in your Handbag

In the past couple of weeks, I have been out and about quite a lot in London on my own for various events and I have been using my shiny new babymoov City Bag Zinc.

Here are the things I have been carrying around:
My good old Canon camera
Protective pouch for camera
Remote control for my camera
Sunglasses & case
Keys
Phone
Purse
Oyster card
Make-up bag with moisturiser, wipes, primer, concealer, foundation,  eyeshadows, lipstick, gloss, mascara, small comb, hair clips, hair bands, mascara, pressed powder, bronzer
Business cards
Tissues
Antibacterial gel
Umbrella
Notebook and pen
Zippy bag full of essentials (headache tablets, antihistamines, plasters, small deodorant, spare key, sewing kit, and loads more)
Phone charger
Water
Snacks

My Handbag Essentials to be Prepared for Anything

As soon as I received my new bag, I cut the labels and got it ready for work the following day.

It was perfect; chic enough to be my bag of choice for a night out with friends, yet large enough to fit all my paraphernalia, kitchen sink included. It is not a bag; it is the Tardis of all handbags!

Whoever designed the bag really thought of everything. It comes with a changing mat, zippy bag (now my make-up bag), an insulated bottle bag which fits my 500ml water bottle and a couple of chocolate bars perfectly. It also comes with a small purse.

It is such a great, practical handbag (changing bag if you wish) and as it has a really wide opening and loads of pockets, it is really easy to find stuff. It even has a slot for a tablet. When I am out and about, I tend to bring my iPad Mini and use it as a Kindle. I also type everything and anything that comes to my mind in the ‘notes’ app, so I liked that extra touch.

I love the fact this handbag can be carried comfortably over the shoulder or across the chest. The latter option makes it easier to carry for a longer period of time and is therefore perfect when travelling on the tube or when shopping.

You are the complete opposite to me, I like to keep my possessions to a minimum when I’m out and about. I just wrote a similar post! That bag looks fantastic though. Xxx

I know, I was drafting my post when I read yours! It would make me sweat in fear to carry just a few wipes, a ha!

My handbag essentials, Mel: my (really pretty) little Orla Kiely notebook, lippy (lotsa lippy), chewing gum, pens, phone, purse, a couple of pairs of children’s socks, a bib or two, a pack of straws, bobby pins (lotsa bobby pins), biscuits, biscuit crumbs and my brand new mini tablet.

Loving your bag – a Tardis of bags, no less. Gone are the days of those teeny tiny over-the-shoulder handbags, eh? I love a sturdy big bag, fit for carrying all and the kitchen sink. It looks super chic, to boot! xx

Yep, there are crumbs in my bag, too! I love a small handbag, too, as long as it fits in the bigger one! xxx

Yes, I’ve been known to carry multiple bags, rather like Russian Dolls! Xxx

Perfect description! I have bags in bags in bags in my handbag. Did I mention I am a bit of a bad addict?

The bag looks great! I tend to carry around large, big handbags (like really big) but with not much in them! I used to practically carry my whole house around with me. After I had Anya and went through years of carrying so much stuff around for her, once she grew up and didn’t need much I lightened my own load too. Now I carry the bare minimum but I never leave home without an ideas book and pen, lip balm and hand moisturiser.

I always tend to carry more than I need ‘just in case’ yet sometimes I leave the house with nothing but the house keys, tissues (hay fever!), my phone and a debit card. I feel light when I do that!

That looks like the perfect bag to me! I’ve just spent months trying to find the ultimate handbag now that my three are growing up a bit more. I carry EVERYTHING too – camera, notebook, first aid kit, wipes – you name it! Mums always need to be prepared. x

I really love this bag. I normally swap bags regularly, but since I got this one a month ago, I’ve not managed to go back to another one. It’s really nice to carry, even for a long day in town and you can fit so much in there I’m pretty sure it would be big enough for an overnight stay somewhere.
